Welded Wire Mesh

Dorstener Wire Tech is the leading industrial welded wire mesh supplier and manufacturer offering a full line of welded wire mesh products for a wide range of applications. Welded wire mesh is generally constructed in rolls or flat panels depending on the wire and opening size. DWT’s welded wire mesh varieties include square and rectangular openings. Custom wire openings are available upon request. The intersections of the wire mesh are typically resistance-welded according to the alloy requirement. Weld set down (thickness of the welded intersection) and weld strength are determined by weld time, weld pressure, and weld temperature.

DWT designs custom welded mesh to meet your specific product requirements, increasing your production efficiency and reducing costs. Our network of affiliate mills provides the capability to manufacture welded mesh to meet a wide range of specifications and applications.

DWT’s carbon steel and galvanized welded wire mesh are high quality (grade A) and come in the following standard products.

Welded Wire Mesh - Dorstener Wire Tech in Houston, Texas the leading industrial welded wire mesh supplier and manufacturer.
Welded Mesh From Bright Basic Steel

This mesh is used when cost is a major factor due to the low cost of the material. The main drawback for using this product is the mesh could rust when exposed to climate change or if used in a damp environment.

Welded Mesh Made From Copper Flashed Steel

This product is used for applications when the mesh will be coated with nickel after fabrication. It is commonly used for fryer baskets for the food industry.

GAW (Galvanized After Welding) Welded Mesh

In this process, the mesh is hot-dipped galvanized after the wire is welded, coating all the weld intersections. GAW welded wire mesh performs well in damp environments and is used in applications such as ventilation screens, animal enclosures, and light duty industrial applications.

GBW (Galvanized Before Welding) Welded Mesh

In this process, the wire is coated prior to welding, leaving the welds uncoated. While GBW provides some protection against damp conditions, it is more prone to rust than GAW mesh. It is primarily used for indoor applications such as security screens and guards for machinery.

DWT’s carbon steel and galvanized welded wire mesh products are available in the following standard configurations. Custom products can be designed to meet your requirements.

  • Opening size, or mesh count, ranging from 1/4” up to 2”. Typically the openings of welded mesh are measured from center to center of the wire.
  • Wire diameters ranging from .025” to .12” in standard configurations. Larger diameter wires are available for custom applications. Wire diameters are measured prior to welding.
  • Roll sizes up to 72” wide and custom panel sizes are available. We can manufacture rolls and flat panels in custom sizes to meet your production requirements. Generally, welded mesh is made in rolls when wire diameters are smaller than .080” and in flat panels when wire sizes are over .080”.

Our unique manufacturing process enables us to provide welded mesh that is flat without curl.

All products can be manufactured using DFAR and non-DFAR compliant materials. DWT’s welded wire mesh products are offered with the following configurations:

  • Opening size, or mesh count, ranging from .030”-2”. Typically the openings of welded mesh are measured from center to center of the wire.
  • Wire diameters ranging from .020” to .080” in standard configurations. Larger diameter wires are available for custom applications. Wire diameters are measured prior to welding.
  • Roll sizes up to 80” wide and custom panel sizes are available. We can manufacture rolls and flat panels in custom sizes to meet your production requirements. Generally, welded mesh is manufactured in rolls when wire diameters are smaller than .080” and in flat panels when wire sizes are over .080”.

Specialty & Custom Weld Wire Mesh Products

Custom welded mesh products can be made from many alloys and can be manufactured to meet specific product and application needs, including custom mesh designs with shaped wires and dropped wires. We offer a broad range of alloys, including nickel-based exotic alloys. Extra long and extra wide rolls are available, as are custom panel sizes.

Dorstener Wire Tech offers custom welded mesh products for applications requiring extraordinary strength, reinforcement, specialty shapes or non-standard openings. We provide custom solutions to all industries, including the safety, security, food service, architectural, and construction industries.

DWT’s specialty welded wire mesh configurations include:

Flex Net (Cable)

Welded mesh that utilizes cables in place of solid wires. This provides excellent flexibility and has many applications for safety and security products.

Flex Net (Rigid Belt)

Welded mesh that utilizes a cable in one direction and a flat in the other. This type of mesh is used to increase the strength of concrete and help with repair of concrete pilings.

Flat Top Welded Mesh

This is welded mesh that utilizes specialty-shaped or dropped wires to produce a custom mesh, or a specialty-shaped end product. Applications include drainage screens, trays, baskets, and architectural applications.

Non-Standard Openings

DWT manufactures a wide range of height aspect ratio weld mesh products. This type of construction is often used when a client requires a high percent of open area in the mesh. Dorstener is able to produce welded mesh with up to a 90% open area.

Custom Shapes

Our welded wire mesh products can be manufactured in rolls, sheets and as round, square, rectangular, or special shapes.

Extra Long and Extra Wide Rolls

Dorstener Wire’s welded wire mesh is available in extra long and extra wide rolls to provide you with the most effective material configuration for your application.

Welded Mesh Precision Shearing

DWT’s automated shearing machinery ensures consistent quality of sheared mesh. All products are sheared flat and square.

Welded Mesh Edge Cutting

Welded mesh can often require unique edge treatments. We can offer random cut edges and clean cut (flush cut edges) for most welded mesh products.

Flattening and Stretching of Welded Mesh

Dorstener Wire Tech offers flattening and shaping services for woven wire cloth and welded wire mesh. As with many steel products, wire cloth and welded wire mesh have coil set or memory in the material after welding or weaving. These products will need to be processed to make the material flat, level, and ready for production. DWT’s flattening and shaping services solve any processing issues you have experienced with coil set, camber, or side curl in your wire cloth or mesh. We will deliver your mesh to you production-ready, and to your requirements. Material up to 60” wide can be flattened and stretched to stabilize the mesh and improve the overall quality of the wire cloth part.

Annealing of Welded Mesh

Annealing increases the ease of working with the wire cloth & welded mesh. It allows for deep drawing and pleating.

DWT’s staff works with all clients to ensure that the our products meet or exceed customers requirements. Our conversion services help to minimize product costs and maximize production efficiency for the client.
